Meadow Mining-Rescue & Training Inc. (MMRT) is a Canadian mine safety and rescue training consultancy that helps mining and industrial operations protect their people, run safely, and stay compliant. Through four divisions: Meadow Safety™, Meadow Rescue™, Meadow Mining™, and Meadow Training™ — MMRT delivers HSE management systems, mine rescue and emergency programs, mining operations leadership and workforce supply, and safety training across British Columbia, Yukon, the Northwest Territories, and Nunavut.
Most operations juggle separate vendors for safety programs, rescue training, project leadership and staffing. Meadow Mining-Rescue & Training was built so one experienced partner can cover all of it, from preparedness to production.
Who is behind Meadow Mining-Rescue & Training?
MMRT was founded by Eric G. Canuel, President and Principal Consultant. Eric brings more than 32 years of frontline experience in underground and surface mining, emergency response, mine management, HSE and workforce leadership.
What are MMRT's four divisions?
Meadow Safety™ — Health, safety and environmental (HSE) management systems, COR readiness, policies, procedures, audits and digital safety platforms.
Meadow Rescue™ — Mine rescue certification, emergency response planning, rescue team development and emergency preparedness.
Meadow Mining™ — Executive mine management, owner's representative services, project management, start-ups, closures and mine workforce supply.
Meadow Training™ — On-site, in-class and online safety and rescue training, including custom course development.
What does Meadow Safety™ do?
Meadow Safety™ builds HSE management systems that crews actually use every day, rather than binders that sit on a shelf. Programs scale from a small contractor's first safety program to multi-site governance for large mining operations.
Core services include:
Health and safety management systems and HSE program development
COR readiness and internal COR auditing
Corporate policies, Safe Work Procedures (SWPs) and Safe Job Procedures (SJPs)
Hazard identification, risk assessment and incident investigation programs
Contractor management and workplace inspection systems
Legislative compliance reviews
Digital HSE setup on platforms such as BIS Safety and SiteDocs
Ongoing professional partnerships, where MMRT acts as your outsourced safety department

What does Meadow Rescue™ do?
Meadow Rescue™ prepares organizations for emergencies long before one happens. As Ministry-approved mine rescue examiners, the team delivers mine rescue courses and formally certifies rescuers to regulatory standards.
Meadow Rescue™ services include:
Mine rescue training, certification and refresher training
Mine rescue team development and program management
Emergency Response Plan (ERP) and emergency management system development
Incident Command System (ICS) implementation
Mock emergency exercises and emergency preparedness audits
Rescue equipment programs, including equipment procurement and hands-on training
Industrial rescue program development for non-mining sites
Emergency preparedness is measured by the confidence and readiness of the people who carry out the plan, not by the plan on paper. Every Meadow Rescue™ program is built around that idea.
What does Meadow Mining™ do?
Meadow Mining™ provides hands-on mining leadership from early planning and feasibility through start-up, steady production and closure. Owners, operators, developers and investors use it when a project needs experienced leadership on its side.
Services include:
Executive mine management and on-site leadership
Owner's representative services on capital projects
Mine project management
Mine start-up, commissioning and ramp-up
Operational readiness and production optimization
Mine closure and decommissioning
Due diligence, technical reviews and feasibility support
Regulatory, permitting and compliance support
Contractor and vendor oversight

Can MMRT supply mine workers and full crews?
Yes. Through Workforce & Personnel Solutions, Meadow Mining™ supplies vetted, ticketed personnel by the day, shift or roster. That includes mine labourers, equipment operators, safety personnel, certified mine rescue personnel, and supervisors and shift leads.
For larger needs, MMRT provides all-inclusive packages: a full turnkey mining team, a start-up and ramp-up team, a closure and demobilization crew, or a safety and rescue standby package. Each bundles personnel with mobilization, travel, accommodations, PPE and administration. Read more in How Do You Staff a Remote Mining Project Without Creating Operational Gaps?
